Sustained Representation of Perspectival Shape

This webpage contains stimuli and demonstrations supporting:

Morales, J., Bax, A. & Firestone, C. (2020). Sustained representation of perspectival shape. Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Below, you will find sample stimuli from the experiments reported in the paper, as well as demonstrations of the experiments themselves. For Experiments 1-7, you can experience the tasks roughly as subjects did, since these experiments were computer-based. For Experiments 8-9, we include video of sample trials to give readers a sense of what the task was like for subjects.

Sample "computer-generated" stimuli (of the sort used in Experiments 1–7):

A head-on circular coin.

A head-on oval coin.

A rotated circular coin.

Sample "real-world" stimuli (of the sort used in Experiments 8–9):

A head-on circular coin.

A head-on oval coin.

A rotated circular coin.
